I've searched for a mod for this, and couldn't find it - but having the ability to change the overlay for turret overlap color would be a good quality of life improvement.
For example, the current red color overlay could be left as is, but an option to change them per turret type would be nice, example would be a red for normal turrets, a darker orange for flame, a blue for laser, etc. It would help to distinguish areas of coverage.

Would be super helpful for space platforms, given you want to limit targets so gun turrets won't go after huge, and rail guns won't go after small!

I've searched for a suggestion like this because i thought i already +1 somewhere, but i could only find :
Vary the color of turret range on map view depending on which ones contain ammunition => 92000
I think those aren't exclusive, it would be difficult to have a set of colors that everyone can distinguish, but it would be nice to have the option for space platforms, it would be useful and make for nice screenshot.

Maybe just distinguish what you're currently holding from whatever else. Like if you're holding a rocket turret, highlight other rocket turrets in green, and maybe ammo-less rocket turrets in dotted green, while highlighting all other turrets in a less bright shade of red.
