Artillery does not consistently uncover map

Artillery does not consistently uncover map

1. What did you do?

I put about 20 rare and epic artillery cannons around the perimeter of my base. Their manual range is (epic) 728 + 3494.4.
Then I drew a circle of around a 100 shots with the targeting remote at max distance to uncover the map tiles that weren't uncovered by automatic shots.

2. What happened?

The first two shots uncovered their path. The third uncovered only half of the path. 4 to ~20 uncovered only the target tile.
On the map, I saw shells flying over black, covered tiles without them being uncovered.

3. What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!

I expected every shell to uncover the map tiles they flew over.

4. Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?

It did not happen before, but I only let the artillery shoot in auto mode up to now.



Additional Info
After writing this report, and switching back to the Factorio window with the map view opened, the view had fixed itself.

I am playing on an AMD AI MAX+ 395. I'm not sure what UPS the game was running at. (With 20 artillery guns with a range of ~220 shooting and drawing bugs, I have seen it go down to 24 UPS. All other situations I see 59.9 to 60 UPS)
