1) What did you do?
I have an automall with Set Recipe that also uses fluids. While testing it, i frequently delete the whole thing and undo to start over.
2) What happened?
When doing so, the rotation of the building is forgotten.
3) What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
The rotation of the building is retained.
4) Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Not always. One of the buildings is remembered, one other is never remembered.
Repro steps
(edit) 0) Be in Editor mode with Instant Blueprint & Deconstruction Enabled.
1) Place the shared blueprint. Notice that for both buildings the fluid intake faces to the right.
2) Disable the constant combinator
3) Grab a Deconstruction Planner and delete the whole thing, then hit Undo.
4) After deleting/undoing, re-enable the constant combinator
You will notice that for one of the buildings the rotation was reset to default (bottom), whereas for the other one it didn't.
This is repeatable, i.e. you can do rotate to a non-default orientation, and one of the buildings will be remembered, but the other one will not. It is important that the recipe is unset when deleting/undoing, otherwise the issue does not repro.
For reference, I found this related fixed bug: 120686 , but the above still repros on latest 2.0.72 (linux build).

It appears you are using Editor Mode - is "Instant blueprint building" and "Instant deconstruction" enabled? I was able to reproduce this behaviour with those settings On; but with them turned Off (as in normal gameplay) and letting Construction Robots do the de/construction the Direction field was preserved.

Good catch! I am indeed in Editor mode with Instant blueprinting. Edited that in the repro steps.
I would still expect Instant blueprinting to behave the same as normal blueprinting.

Re: [2.0.72] Rotation of building with Set Recipe is not always retained
I see this was moved to "Not a bug", but this is still a bug, despite Editor Mode being at play.
I dug some more in the inconsistency. I wasn't able to find correlation with modules or the various settings of the machine (e.g. Read Ingredients etc). But I found correlation the location of the assembler.
1) If the machine is on the bottom heat pipe square, then its orientation is forgotten.
Before: After (disable constant combinator to clear recipe, delete everything, undo, re-enable constant combinator):
2) If the machine is at top heat pipe square, then its orientation is remembered.
Before: After (disable constant combinator to clear recipe, delete everything, undo, re-enable constant combinator):
In both experiments, the machines outside the heat pipes behave similarly: the top one always remembers orientation, but the bottom ones always forget.

You still had mods enabled. If they aren't at fault you should be able to reproduce this in vanilla.SuperBananaBomb wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 12:04 pm I see this was moved to "Not a bug", but this is still a bug, despite Editor Mode being at play.
So I tried just that.
vanilla space age, /editor, instant blueprint building enabled.
- paste this bp:
- turn off constant combinator
- use deconstruction planner to remove all foundries
- turn on constant combinator
- undo deconstruction
The rightmost foundry will lose its rotation. It seems to be always the rightmost foundry, regardless of their offset within the chunk. Interestingly, the issue didn't happen when I repositioned the constant combinator next to that foundry.
