[2.0.73] Efficiency module "polution" and "consumption" effects stack

Post by Gurki35 »

Hello.

The efficiency module do not show in its description nor effect list that it reduce the pollution.
On 2.0.73.84377 (latest steam experimental on windows) base game (no mod, no space-age) using the prototype inspector, the effect list properly show its -30 consumption but the pollution effect is set to 0.
The effective pollution generated by entities is reduced by the same percentage as their consumption.
Also, because the module have no pollution effect, entities tooltip do not show the reduced percentage on generated pollution like they do on consumption.

I first noticed that something seems wrong on a space exploration run, where efficiency module T1 have the consumption effect at 40 and the pollution effect at 10 (as stated in the prototype description and the item tooltip), but the actual reduction was much higher as a single module on an electric miner reduced the pollution to 5.4/m (base is 10/m), instead of the expected 9/m.

It seem that the pollution generated is reduced by both the consumption and the pollution effect.

That's because of the specifics how pollution works: pollution scales with the energy consumption AND pollution multiplier. That's why efficiency modules reduce pollution and productivity modules are so bad for pollution: they raise the energy consumption AND the pollution.

Well, I was sure that prior to 2.0, the percentage reduction was both in the module description and the entity tooltip affected by such module ... but I was wrong.
