Corrupt map: unknown quality prototype ID 16 (Factorio 2.0.73)

Post by r0c »

Hello,

My save file no longer loads. When I try to open it, I get the following error:

Corrupt map: unknown quality prototype ID 16. File has likely been corrupted due to failing hardware.

Game version: Factorio 2.0.73 (Steam, Space Age)
OS: Windows 11
What I have already tried:
- Verified game files through Steam
- Tried loading the save after unzipping it
- Disabled all mods (I am playing vanilla)
- Tried loading autosaves (they don't work)
I am attaching:
- The corrupted save (.zip)
- My factorio-current.log file

Could you please check if the save can be recovered?

Thank you very much !

Did a quick look, i have no idea how this save file got corrupted, its a little bit too far from a bit flip. But i think i managed to fix it.

I was not looking too much where the corruption was, it looked like something about one of inserter filters inside of blueprint that contains this part in its description: "27000 / min green circuits ( 10 blue belts )". Quality was set to normal.

First of all, a huge thank you for your efficiency and your quick response.

You quite literally saved my factory… and my day!

Yesterday, I shut down my PC very quickly right after closing the game, and I had made a lot of saves during that session. I still checked the health of both the disk and the RAM: everything is fine.

The repaired save works perfectly.

I’ll also take a look at the blueprint you mentioned to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

All my gratitude for your help, boskid!

On the side note, Factorio log reads:

Code: Select all

   0.096 [0]: Unknown CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 16384 MB 2133 MHz 1.2 v 64|64
   0.096 [1]: Unknown CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 16384 MB 2133 MHz 1.2 v 64|64
Looks like your Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz sticks are set to minimal, default speed of 2133 MT/s.
You may want to check that out in BIOS, and set them to 3200 MT/s.
You could test RAM with Memtest86+ while you are at it, to try and determine what has corrupted your save file.

Thank you very much for these details, duly noted.

I’ll check the RAM configuration in the BIOS and run a test with Memtest86+ as recommended.

Un grand MERCI pour vos retours :)

I found the blueprint in question: it comes from a blueprint book downloaded from a third‑party site.

Have a nice day.
