Map zoom is not saving anymore

TL;DR

Map should save its zoom level like it did in the past 1.1 and before. You had a working system, then you broke it.

What?

Remote view on other surfaces and platforms saves it, pressing M at player position will currently open map very zoomed in and not remember last zoom level.

Furthermore developers have stated that it was intentionally changed this way, for reasons noone knows.

Why?

Ask yourself this: When you open the map, how high are the odds that you will immediately zoom out, that what you wanted to see is not what you actually see?
I'll then make bold assumption the odds are over 90%. Is act of using the map not that you want to see something elsewhere? You need to see the big picture of things not in the immediate vicinity but sometimes even very far away.

Then it doesn't help when my normal game view shows this much:

... It shows the same amount of stuff i had already on my screen. This is not helpful. It is not even about if it should start more zoomed out, it should remember the last level i used.

Imagine you are out in the wilds on a tank or spidertron doing combat. I want to maintain level of something like this:

At this point is is not a matter of playstyle preferences, you absolutely need to zoom out to see what you're doing.
