1. What did I do?
Walking around on Gleba.
2. What happened? Every once in a while it seems the keyboard stops responding - player stops walking, using R to rotate belts or inserters doesn't work, or there is a brief delay before the game responds to the commands. It has been happening for a few days I don't think it was happening in 2.0.54 but it might.
3. What did I expect? Using AWSD to move or R to rotate normally the game responds right away all the time.
4. How often does it happen? Occasionally... say 5 seconds every half hour.
I thought it might just be my keyboard, then I saw this post over on reddit:

[2.0.55] occasional keyboard stops responding or delayed response
My own personal Factorio super-power - running out of power.
Re: [2.0.55] occasional keyboard stops responding or delayed response
Could be related to a hardware problem, for example, a failing hard drive. Check for errors.
Also, could be RAM running out, swapping to hard drive. Check.
Lastly, you are using an integrated Intel GPU, and what seems to be very high graphical settings. Reduce them to a minimum and try again.
Code: Select all
sudo dmesg

Re: [2.0.55] occasional keyboard stops responding or delayed response
Previously, in “keyboard responding slowly”
I still occasionally experience this with my Ryzen and Xeon systems - unlikely to be a GPU issue on the latter, it’s not a “stutter”; the input just doesn’t happen (and then either all sends-at-once, or it never does).
My best-guess is that it is either a Hardware Driver issue, or an Input Capture problem, or some combination of the two due to the state-changes…. I’m open to ideas for how to capture the SDL or DirectInput / X11 Keypress/Mouse events for debugging.

Re: [2.0.55] occasional keyboard stops responding or delayed response
According to your log you play on an intel iGPU that could limit Factorio perfomrance in later stages of the game. Try to enable the FPS/UPS display in the F4 menu.
Maybe this could give a clue about the problem

Thanks for the suggestions. My FPS was only 35! I dropped the sprite quality to Medium and that brought FPS up to 45...

Consider dropping all graphical settings to minimum to recover back to 60 FPS. Otherwise, game may struggle to be 100% consistent and lag free.Amarula wrote: Sat Jun 14, 2025 2:31 pm Thanks for the suggestions. My FPS was only 35! Re: [2.0.55] occasional keyboard stops responding or delayed response
I have the same issue, only since 2.0.55
Re: [2.0.55] occasional keyboard stops responding or delayed response
I turned off clouds and shadows etc brought my FPS back up to 60... plus makes it easier to see what is going on in my Gleba base. Thank you again!

All my graphic settings are already to the minimum, but I'm running at around 30ups (yeah megabases...)
