The display panel improvement

Post by Green Cat »

To display numeric the value of items, you need to use mutiple decider, calculation and so on. Any nixies tube mod, you just connect, select item, it shows numeric value.... why is this possible but not for the display panel? FPS issues? how about it gets turned OFF unless we are actually watching it, since it's just for us, the main circuit or logistic network that already exist won't even get affected like this since there is no change, as it's only for us to see visually the numbers.

So ideea is really, improve it to be mod level. This means larger display...... that.... if you add a NEW signal, we can actually do all of this NEXT LEVEL! (i wrote in upper cases to make it clear i'm suggesting a new ideea, different from nixis tubes but still the same ideea).

When you create a blueprints and IN THE TEXT BOX (not the icon), you select a parameter from 0 to 9, and place it, then place it, it will ask you what symbol to show, and that is what will apear in the text. Here comes the thing, the picture to act as a "tick box". Meaning if we select this NEW symbol as the image = what the display panel will do will change. So, what will it do? it will ask you for what item (or more specifically, what circuit symbol to show), and on top of that symbol, it will also show the numberical value. As an exemple, there is nothing connected to the display panel and i selected Iron plates, it will show an iron plate icon with the value 0 next to it. And this is what people don't realise right now, the "written text", is always visible, even when you zoom out, meaning you will always be able to see it easy and clearly. Otherwise, it's just like any other circuit network. So the only difference is that for each item (including 1 quality rank) = 1 single display panel (with this new symbol or tickbox on), and no need for anything else, nothing else...

Or to put it very wierdly.... you coneect a circuit to any combinator (for this exemple let's say we coneected it to the roboport), and insite you select iron ore as well as an output iron ore, and you'll see clear and easily how many iron ores you have (nothing is none)... but insted of using decider combinator, we use the display panel since that is exactly why it exist. Especially if we can change what item's value to show dynamecally via circuits (aka exacty what the "need material" does, but for circuits or whatever set up we have in our mind).
