So I came across min_brightness, whose documentation reads:
I went in-game into a vanilla sandbox scenario to test out what happens if I change it by commands, and as far as I can tell it does nothing. The minimal brightness during the night. Defaults to 0.15. This has an effect on both rendering and game mechanics such as biter spawns and solar power.
For visuals at least, this does seem to check out, it should have an effect if brightness_visual_weights is set to a non-default value, though I didn't test it.
But what about gameplay? According to the documentation, it affects "game mechanics such as biter spawns and solar power". Solar power seemed entirely unaffected when I tested, even setting the min_brightness to 1.0, which would imply intuitively that there's full light even at night, a value of 0.0 likewise did nothing, nor any value in-between that I tried. And I've never heard of the time of day affecting biter mechanics, let alone the 'brightness'.
My observations seem to be in agreement with this old thread, the only other place I saw mentioning this parameter (the origin of the brightness_visual_weights parameter too, it seems). Quoting posila in that thread:
So it seems to me that the documentation is wrong/outdated, am I missing anything? Now question is, if min_brightness is usefull at all now, since it doesn't have any effect on energy output of solar panels.
