Hey, for the last few days (I think its been days, maybe hours) I've been on a Factorio high. 24 hours over 3 days, might need rehab soon.
Hand Torch
This idea would strip new characters of their pre-existing torch, and let them rely on their small restricted 'fog-of-war' vision at night. The Hand Torch can be equipped in a weapon slot and can be made relatively easily, just needing the 'Optics' tech research.
This doesn't add anything crazy new, just a small change to create a more atmospheric early game and makes the 'Optics' tech research more valuable.
