Big rocks

Wouldnt it be nice to mine the big rocks like trees to get stones out of them instead of destroying them?

Yes this gets also around my head because this rocks are also everywhere and we can only mine trees...

I think someone made a mod to mine those rocks once, basically gave you a stack of stone for doing it.
