Failed to create display

Hi.

I have searched for this error, but no topics I found had my particular problem.
I have tried switching between opengl and dx, fullscreen and windowed mode.

I get the Failed to create display error everytime I try to start the game.
I was playing a few days ago and it was working fine, and then I modified/repaired my vs2015 installation and cleaned my disk. None of these things should impair my ability to play the game.

I'm running the game (latest exp version, but have tried 0.13 too) on Win10 x64 Build 14195 prerelease 160826-1902. It has worked before and suddenly it doesnt work. I'm thinking it's a driver issue, but I have the latest drivers so it shouldnt be a problem.

I'm gonna try and roll back drivers to see if it helps. This is the only game I have installed on this machine. Sorry if I break any formatting rules, but I havent gotten it to work yet.

"cleaned" your disk? What do you mean by this?

I'd recommend a complete uninstall and reinstall of the video drivers rather than a rollback.

I'll try to the uninstall and reinstall of the video drivers.

I used the disk cleaner utility to remove temporary files.

EDIT: I just unisntalled the driver and the game works.. yay.

Ah okay, I'm always a little dubious because I frequently see third party cleaners and always on computers I've been asked to look at a weird problem on where something's stopped working because it's out of cheese or whatever.
