First time making a mod-need help

Hello, so I want to try to make a mod, but I could use some help. Are there any up to date tutorials out there I can use? Also, I have a question; I tried following the tutorial by Klonan in the Modding Help Forums (can't send link because this is my first post) . I went to %appdata%/factorio, but I don't have a folder called data. All I have is "temp" "scenarios" "mods" "saves" and "config" for folders. Does anyone know why I don't have the folder "data"? Thanks!

Ok, so I just found the folder for "data", no need to help with that.

the data folder is in another location, being the steam folder, or at the same spot you have your factorio.exe file, for me this is

ok, so I made my first mod, based off of the tutorial at viewtopic.php?f=25&t=15415

instead of making a chemical plant, I made an electric furnace.

However, when I pull up factorio, and go to mods, my mod is in red letters. under factorio version, It says "0.12 incompatible with current version of the game"

any idea what's going on?

is it a problem with my info.json file?

Yes, see the info.json in beltbrush in my desc to see the line you need, it reads something like "factorio version"
