In any game there will be features you don't care for. Unless you are designing/modding the game yourself, it will be something you have to deal with.
Check out my server.

Is the survey working for anyone? I can't access it because "I don't have permission".

EDIT: it works now

Survey doesn't work (only by people in a domain, etc.).

I don't care which name you choose for anything, just pick one and stick to it!
I call them drones, not bots, because that's what they are.
I call the uranium ores "bright and dark".
I only ever call the biters "aliens", not their types, and their homes "generators" (because I played Gauntlet many years ago and that what we called them).

While we are there, you REALLY need an easy way to see all the ways to produce a certain item (e.g. sulphur / cobalt in Bob's Mod)... I hate having to refer to a wiki to get an in-game answer.

Steam matchmaking is very handy.

More network options are great! I have a casual Factorio friend (they do exist!) who is on steam, I reckon I can convince them to try multiplayer with this

Any chance of 0.17 for christmas? Really want to get my brother into it but I want to wait until the campaign/tutorial content is improved so he isn't put off in the first few hours. Can you allude to a 0.17 announcement at all in the near future?

Good work as usual guys, thanks.

I am very much a 'craft/mine/place/remove' person.

I place a building, I mine a patch, I place a blueprint I copied from somewhere else. I CRAFT ALL THE THINGS.

Keep it consistent to yourself first and foremost. THEN worry about the game's (in)consistencies.

I never really liked mining buildings/machines. Mining should be used for resources only

The issue with using "build" for placing an entity somewhere is that they aren't created in place. They are crafted in the inventory or a machine and then moved somewhere. So "place" seems more appropriate

How many hours did I play before realizing that there are alternatives to the "sushi belt" setup?

(Back in 0.12) The first time I tried to automate science packs, I built a loop of belts and put all the ingredients and immediate products on it. Some items eventually took over the lanes leaving no space for the more important ones. I built some sort of buffer with smart inserters, (filter inserters were called that back then) that collected the items into an array of chests only to let a slower inserter dump them back into the "main loop". After a lot of manual crafting (green science) I finally got to the circuit network research. I thought that would help me build a green science factory in a similar way.

It was so frustrating because I never played a game of this kind before. I just didn't know how to properly do it.

I was thinking about quitting the game. I felt like I was scammed because the demo version ends right before the introduction to technologies. Though I had a feeling that I might have got everything wrong.

Then I saw that one guide on steam that taught me a valuable lesson: Only one item type per belt lane.
I'm not kidding. That really how it was the first time I played Factorio.

Edit: Found a picture of it. The "machine" is trying to make green science packs: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... =654581211

I like the idea of the survey ('slurp' made me laugh! Not sure if that should be the official term...)

However, I would put your (developers) own judgment first - us players like keeping things the same and won't have thought through all the exact inconsistencies between terms as much as you obviously have.

An example of what I would say:
-I craft 10 assemblers
-To build an assembly line I place each assembler
-To destroy an assembly line I remove each assembler
-A player press F to pick up items
